Tasting Notes:

  • Dark cherry color with orange rim.
  • Complex and elegant nose. Aromas of sweet spices, ripe black fruits along with elegant spicy notes that give way to memories of roasted nuts and, finally, pleasant notes of leather and tobacco.
  • In the mouth it is velvety, well-structured and with well-polished tannins and perfectly linked to the fruit. Fair and balanced acidity. Long and persistent, marked by the spicy notes announced on the nose.

Elaboration and Ageing

Made with 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo from grapes that the winery always selects for this type of longevity wines, originating from vineyards with average ages ranging from 20 to 40 years. The ageing is carried out in new and semi-new American oak barrels of 36 months, followed by another 36 months of bottle reduction until commercialisation.

Curiosities:

Since its beginnings, Martínez Lacuesta's philosophy has been to work with the best vineyards in La Rioja, which is why they continue to acquire the most desirable plots to plant new vines with which to produce their range of wines. Now, this hundred-year-old winery is opening new facilities in Paraje de Ubieta, in the heart of Rioja Alta.
