CATA's notes
Michelini i Mufatto En el Camino 2018 is a juicy red wine with delicious aromas of acidic red fruit, notes of violet flowers and hints of spice.
In the mouth it is very fruity, fresh and light. A wine with marked acidity, earthy tannins and a long and elegant finish.
Preparation and aging
Vinification: the grapes come from 100-year-old glass vineyards. They are vinified with 50% whole bunch and 50% destemmed; short post-fermentation maceration, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and subsequent aging for 10 months in clay jars. Only 2,000 bottles were made.
Supported by vines that are more than 80 years old and grown in glass that grow on a soil composed of slate stone and clay, and in the cold of the area (since the vineyards are on the north face of the mountains), wines are made. based on the typical varieties of the region: Mencía, Godello, Palomino, Merenzao, Brancellao, Garnacha Tintorera and Doña Blanca. All the vineyards are organic and we work with biodynamic concepts seeking for the plants to express their best.
Then, winemaking is traditional, generally using whole bunches and fermenting the grapes with yeasts native to the vineyards in small clay jars and wooden vats. The result is wines from limited batches of wines that express the essence of this traditional Spanish area.
