When we talk about Pago de la Oliva, we inevitably talk about a family, the Barbero family.
José Barbero Capdevilla, founder and visionary in his time, always knew that he wanted vineyards. A dream that today has become a reality, where the work of more than thirty years dedicated to the vineyards has allowed us to proudly see how three generations work side by side in the fields and in the winery.
Their passion is the land, agriculture and their vineyards.
The story begins with a young man from Seville, recently arrived in Tudela de Duero, in love with the land and working from sunrise to sunset. The village elders call him "the boy", because they have fond memories of a young man who, despite his young age, worked in the fields with passion and courage.
In the fields, he looked for the answers that nature itself gave him about where and how to do things, where to plant the vines, how to prepare the soil ..... He always worked with enthusiasm and with a philosophy of life: "The only possible way is to do things in the best possible way".
The Pago de la Oliva vineyards are located in a privileged area, Tudela de Duero, which has always been known for its orchards and its quality wines, as it has a very favourable microclimate for their cultivation.
This Castilian town, known as "the happy tear of the Duero", is also part of the renowned "Golden Mile", an area with a great wine-growing tradition that has given rise to great wineries and great wines. A unique terroir for which we feel something special.
