The love of the land and led to the family vineyard Sastre to venture more than five decades in the intricacies of this restless world of wine. Severiano Sastre was the pioneer of this great project and in the fifties and developed its first wines in the underground cellars of La Horrocks, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. Gradually, with the profits, was buying more land and planting more vines in the surrounding area. In 1957, together with an enterprising group of growers, participated in the founding of the cooperative Lady of the Assumption.His son, Rafael, continued the traditional craft, and in 1992 decided to materialize the dream I had since childhood: create your own cellar.
Rafael Sastre told from the outset with the support of his father and his two sons, Peter and Jesus. But the path is rarely easy and the family suffered two major losses. In 1998 Rafael Sastre and died just four years later, a car accident snatched the life of Peter. Since then, Jesus struggles to keep the dream alive familiar with the unconditional support of his sister Isabel and his companion and friend, Eugene Bayón.
From then until now, the premises have not changed. The vine care, health, tranquility, mime and silence in breeding, are the basis of their success. And, the secret is in the grape. The quality of its 45 hectares of Tempranillo offers structured wines, exclusive and harmonious whose elegance has been recognized by the best tasters.
Thus, from the beginning of the project in order to reflect the expression in the wines of the land and plant cultivation was carried out entirely traditional.Thus, the quality of the grape is undermined at any time. The whole process is natural and theory put into practice results in an express waiver of the use of all types of mineral fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides and other inorganic chemicals. In Viña Sastre, once collected the grapes of the vineyard comes in stock. At the reception there is a comprehensive control. The first wines are upgraded as Regina Vides, Pago de Santa Cruz and, of course, Pesus. The second is located Viña Sastre wines Viña Sastre Roble and Breeding.
With an annual production of 300,000 bottles, the winery has a barrel cellar of 750 units of 225 liter French and American oak. The winery has undergone in recent years and comprehensive reform in the coming months to finish the last round of enlargement. In total, the facilities are around 2,000 square meters.
After aging in wood the wine is bottled. In a special room known as a bedroom, the bottles remain in the tranquility of silence horizontal. The temperature and humidity are constant in this area to ensure the quality of the wines.
Therefore, it is not surprising that these wines are successful in Spain and abroad. In fact, 40% of the production of Viña Sastre is marketed outside our borders, mainly in USA, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and Brazil.

Viña Sastre Crianza is a village wine made with Tempranillo grapes from a selection of Pagos located in La Horra (Burgos). A red Ribera Crianza aged for 14 months in French and American oak. Viña Sastre Pago de Santa Cruz is born from the land of La Horra and its old vineyards, from which grows a balanced wine, full of nuances, of great purity and freshness.
